Professor Arzu Karabay
is a Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Istanbul Technical University. She obtained her Ph.D. on microtubules and motor proteins related to mitotic division in Molecular Cell Biology and Biotechnology Program of Graduate School at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Later she did her post-doctoral studies on microtubules and associated protein in non-dividing cells, neurons in Neurobiology and Anatomy Department of Drexel University College of Medicine. Her lab mainly focuses on molecular and cell biology of cytoskeleton-based research of physiological and pathological cases of the neurons and glial cells. Given the high prevalence of rare neurodegenerative diseases in Turkey, her studies also include identifying the causative genes and the disease-causing mechanisms of identified mutations. She is the principal investigator of Neurodegeneration and Neuro-oncology Lab in Molecular Biology-Biotechnology and Genetics Research Center at Istanbul Technical University.
